on "Impact of the New Product Patent Regime on
Pharmaceutical, Biotechnology, Agro-Chemicals and Food
Industry"

Government of India is in the process of initiating
changes in the Indian Patents Act 1970, which would
be enforceable from January 2005. The changes would
relate primarily to the product patent protection in
pharma, agro-chemicals and food sector.
To discuss and debate some of the issues,
FICCI Institute of Intellectual Property Development
proposes to organize a panel discussion on the "Impact
of the New Product Patent Regime on Pharmaceutical,
Biotechnology, Agro-Chemicals and Food Industry"
on 2nd November 2004 at 3.00pm at FICCI, Federation
House, Tansen Marg, New Delhi. A panel of experts will
make presentations on the sectoral issues. Mr. Ashok
Jha, Secretary, Department of Industrial Policy and
Promotion will preside over the deliberations.
